How it works

How to set risk limits in cTrader with Propcockpit

Connect a cTrader account, arm three limits, and place orders through a ticket that sizes by risk and checks each one against those limits before the broker sees it. Five screens, in the order you meet them.

1. Connect cTrader, choose what to protect

The connection is cTrader’s official OAuth: you sign in at cTrader, and Propcockpit receives a grant that can read the account and place orders on it, and can never withdraw or transfer funds. Your broker password never touches this product. A grant can expose several Trading accounts; you choose which become Protected accounts, and only those are gated.

The Accounts screen: a cTrader connection with its Trading accounts, and which of them are Protected.
One connection, several accounts. Protection is per account and is a choice.

2. Arm the three limits

Max daily loss and Max total drawdown as a share of the Initial capital your firm issued, and Max open risk as the cap for one order. The FTMO preset fills the first two with one press and Save arms them, at least as strict as the firm’s own convention. Tightening a limit applies at once; loosening one waits for the next Daily reset, so a rule cannot be widened the moment it starts to hurt.

The Risk screen: armed rules for daily loss, total drawdown and per-order risk, with the buffer left before each one.
The Buffer beside each rule is what is left of it right now, open positions included.

3. Size an order by risk

On the chart, drag the stop to where the trade is wrong and press a risk chip. The ticket returns the lots, the distance and the money, sized from the stop you set. The order it sends carries that stop to the broker, so what protects you sits at the venue rather than in a browser tab, and holds if your connection drops, or ours does. On Pro and Premium the ticket can also hold a stop loss on candle close inside that stop: a level that closes the trade only when a candle closes through it, not on a wick.

The Propcockpit terminal: a EURUSD chart with entry and stop lines, and an order ticket sized to a risk percentage with the Buffer inside it.
A risk chip, a dragged stop, and the size that follows from them.

4. When an order would break a limit

Before the order is sent, its full cost to the stop is checked against the Buffer, against what is left of the total drawdown, and against the per-order cap. On a paid plan an order that does not fit is refused, and the refusal names the rule and the number rather than a red message that only says no. On the Free plan the same check is shown as an advisory and the order is still sent; that is the difference a paid plan buys.

A position you open directly in cTrader is read and counted rather than intercepted: it enters the Buffer arithmetic the moment it appears, and one that arrives without a stop is marked Unprotected rather than guessed at.

The Positions screen: open trades with their entry, current price, stop, running result, and Modify and Close on each row.
Every position, including those opened at the broker, with the stop resting at the venue.

5. The day, at a glance

What is left of today’s allowance, what the account has done since the Daily reset, and what every open position costs if all the stops hit at once. FLATTEN ALL is one control, behind a two-step confirm, and it is the one action that stays available through a Lock, a stale feed and a paused platform, because closing only ever reduces risk.

The Propcockpit dashboard: buffer, the day's result, open exposure and recent activity.
The Buffer, the day, and the button that closes everything.

What it does not do

It does not make an evaluation impossible to fail. The firm measures its rules on its own server, on its own feed, and an order placed outside Propcockpit is not gated. Auto-flatten, on Pro and Premium, executes as soon as the broker is reachable, never instantly, because nothing in a browser can close a position at a venue that is not answering. The documentation says exactly what each screen does, and pricing says what each plan includes.

Keyboard

?
Open and close this sheet.
Escape
Stand down anything that is armed - the kill switch, an open notification panel, this sheet. It never commits anything.
Tab / Shift + Tab
Move between controls. Every one of them shows a focus ring.
Arrow keys
Nudge a focused panel around the canvas. Hold Shift to move it further per press.
Enter or Space
Activate the control that is focused, and only that one. There is deliberately no key anywhere that sends an order on its own.
