What Propcockpit is

A risk gate in front of your broker: every order it places is checked against the limits you armed, before it reaches the venue.

Propcockpit sits between you and your broker. It draws the chart, prices the order, and checks it against the limits you armed before it reaches the venue - so a trade that would break your prop firm's daily loss rule does not get sent and then explained afterwards.

The Propcockpit terminal: a watchlist, a chart with order lines on it, an order ticket and a positions blotter.
The Terminal, with an order composed and two positions open.

What it actually does

  • Sizes an order from its stop. You give it a stop loss and a share of the account you are willing to risk; it works out the volume, including the spread and the commission your broker charges.
  • Refuses the order that would break a rule. Every order - yours, or one a TradingView alert sent - goes through the same gate.
  • Watches the account while you are not looking. A Breach is detected on the server, not in your browser, and on the paid plans it can close everything.
  • Writes down what it decided. Every order and every refusal gets a Support reference and a Journal entry you can read months later.

What it does not do

It cannot move money. The cTrader permission it asks for reads your account and places the orders you approve, and there is no scope in the cTrader API that would let it withdraw or transfer anything. It never sees your broker password.

It also does not check an order you place somewhere else. A position opened directly in a cTrader app is an External position: Propcockpit sees it, prices it and counts it against your limits, but nothing checked it on its way to the broker.

Where to go next

Getting started is the shortest path from a new account to armed rules. If you would rather understand the machinery first, how the risk model works is the page every other page is written in the language of.

Keyboard

?
Open and close this sheet.
Escape
Stand down anything that is armed - the kill switch, an open notification panel, this sheet. It never commits anything.
Tab / Shift + Tab
Move between controls. Every one of them shows a focus ring.
Arrow keys
Nudge a focused panel around the canvas. Hold Shift to move it further per press.
Enter or Space
Activate the control that is focused, and only that one. There is deliberately no key anywhere that sends an order on its own.
