TradingView alerts
TradingView alerts to your FTMO account on cTrader
An alert sent to your Propcockpit endpoint becomes a Signal: sized from your risk per trade, checked against what is left of your day and your maximum loss, and sent to your FTMO cTrader account with its stop loss. With your limits armed on Pro or Premium, one that would break a limit is refused before the broker.
FTMO’s rule
"As long as your trading is legitimate (in line with proper risk management), conforms to the real market conditions, and does not resemble forbidden practices", FTMO has no reason to restrict a strategy, "whether it's discretionary trading, algorithmic trading, EAs, etc." A third-party EA may already be used by other traders, which counts toward FTMO's maximum capital allocation. FTMO's own cTrader runs cBots in cTrader Cloud.
Allowed, as long as the strategy does not resemble FTMO's forbidden trading practices. A strategy you share with other traders counts toward FTMO's capital allocation limit. Read on 2026-09-26 on FTMO’s own page, Forbidden trading practices, cTrader Algo on FTMO's cTrader. See how this compares with other firms on TradingView alerts to cTrader, and the rest of FTMO’s rules on its page.
Refused before the broker: an example
A $100,000 account on FTMO Challenge, 2-step. You arm Max daily loss at 5%, which is $5,000. Propcockpit holds back a Reserve of a tenth of it, $500, for slippage and fees between the decision and the fill, so orders have to fit inside $4,500.
You are down $4,000 today with nothing open, so $500 is left. An alert arrives asking for 1% risk: about $1,000 to its stop. It does not fit, so it is refused before it reaches FTMO’s server, and the refusal names the rule and both numbers. An alert asking for 0.4% would fit and be sent with its stop.
Propcockpit measures the day from the higher of your balance and equity at the reset, which is at least as strict as FTMO’s own line and not the same line. Your FTMO dashboard remains the authority on where you stand with FTMO.
An alert message for your FTMO account
A prop firm states its risk per trade as a share of the account it issued, so this message risks a share of your Initial capital rather than of today’s balance. Its stop is a percentage of the price, so the same message works on every chart:
{
"secret": "whsec_...",
"action": "open",
"symbol": "{{ticker}}",
"side": "long",
"sl_percent": 0.3,
"tp_rr": 2,
"risk_percent": 1,
"risk_percent_of": "initial",
"size": "fit",
"on_existing": "skip",
"signal_id": "pc-t4v7hn-{{ticker}}-{{time}}-open",
"sent_at": "{{timenow}}"
}Risks 1% of the Initial capital - 1,000 USD on a 100,000 account, however the balance has moved - and is sized down to what the Buffer allows rather than refused. When this endpoint already holds the symbol, or has an order resting on it, it does nothing.
Setting it up
- Connect your FTMO cTrader account and arm your limits; the FTMO Challenge, 2-step preset fills them in one click.
- On Webhooks, make an endpoint for that account. You get a URL and a secret.
- In the TradingView alert, put the URL in Webhook URL and the JSON body in Message. The body and every field are on the main alerts page and in the webhooks documentation.
What it does not do
It does not check orders placed directly in cTrader. It does not decide whether a strategy is allowed at FTMO: that is FTMO’s rule, including its forbidden trading practices and its limit on capital running the same strategy. And it does not run a strategy: TradingView decides when to fire, Propcockpit decides whether the order fits, and the broker holds the stop.
Questions
- Does FTMO allow TradingView alerts on cTrader?
- Allowed, as long as the strategy does not resemble FTMO's forbidden trading practices. A strategy you share with other traders counts toward FTMO's capital allocation limit. The rule is FTMO's, quoted on this page with its source and the date it was read; FTMO's own page is the answer if the two ever differ.
- Can an alert get past my daily loss limit?
- Not through Propcockpit, on a plan that enforces: a Signal goes through the same check as an order placed by hand, and one whose risk to its stop does not fit what is left of your day is refused before the broker, with the rule and the number. An order placed directly in cTrader is not checked.
- Which FTMO evaluation does the example use?
- FTMO Challenge, 2-step: 5% a day and 10% overall, from FTMO's own page. Propcockpit ships a one-click preset for it. You can arm any other figures.
- Which plans include TradingView alerts?
- Signals through webhooks are on Pro and Premium.
