cTrader position size calculator

Calculate cTrader lots and units from risk and stop distance, with editable pip value. Assumes a 0.01-lot step; verify your broker's symbol specification.

This calculator assumes 100,000 units per lot and a 0.01-lot step (1,000 units). Verify your broker's contract size, minimum volume and step before placing an order. Enter the pip value per lot in the account currency; $10 is the example for a USD-quoted forex pair on a USD account.

Get this number on every order you place through Propcockpit, and have one that would break your limits stopped before your broker sees it - on a paid plan, with your limits armed. Free sizes every order and shows the warnings.

Worked example: risk money to lots and units

On a $10,000 account, 0.5% risk is $50. With a 20-pip stop and a pip value of $10 per lot in the account currency, one lot risks $200 before costs. $50 divided by $200 gives 0.25 lots. At the assumed 100,000 units per lot, that is 25,000 units. The calculator rounds down to a 0.01-lot step, never up.

These are forex example specifications, not universal cTrader specifications. Check your broker’s contract size, minimum volume and volume step. Enter the pip value in the same currency as the account size; a quote in another currency needs conversion first. Spread, commission and slippage are outside this calculation, so a filled stop can cost more than the displayed risk.

For different contracts, use the assumptions on the gold, NAS100 or US30 calculators. This tool uses the numbers you enter; it does not inspect a broker connection. See the connected order ticket and how Propcockpit works for the next step.

What this calculator assumes

  • cTrader's order form takes volume in lots or in units depending on how the symbol is set to display; this calculator assumes 100,000 units per lot and a 0.01-lot step (1,000 units). Your broker's symbol may use a different contract size, minimum or step. Verify those before placing an order.
  • $10 a pip a lot is a USD-quoted pair. For any other symbol, read the pip value under Symbol info in cTrader and change it on the page.
  • The connected order ticket uses your broker's symbol data. Enforcing Risk rules before an order is sent requires an enforcing plan and armed rules; Free stores rules and shows warnings. This calculator uses only the numbers you enter.
  • The figures it opens with are an example. It runs in your browser and stores nothing.
  • A prop firm measures its own rules on its own server, in its own time zone, with its own rounding. This shows where you stand by the arithmetic above; the firm’s measurement is the one that ends an evaluation.
